September 27th, World Tourism Day
World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27th of each year.
The United Nations General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization established World Tourism Day in 1979. The purpose of the day is to promote tourism, highlight tourism's contribution to the world economy and develop relations among people of different countries.
While this holiday may be honored by anyone who calls him or herself a traveler, it is especially reserved for those who work in the travel industry. Employees of the travel industry are anyone from the staff of a travel agency, museum professional, to managers and staff of hotel facilities. On this day you will find the gathering of tourists and the celebrations and festivals devoted to tourism and the travel industry.
