August 6th, The International Day of Peace


The International Day of Peace is celebrated on August 6th of each year.

This is a day, which was proposed by the Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear Threat. This day is an anniversary of bombing Japanese city Hiroshima in 1945. This day serves as a reminder of this human tragedy and of the role of doctors in the struggle for peace and the prevention of war.

I was skeptical thinking that this was just flattery. I now understand their comments. My trip far exceeded all of my expectations and goals. The tour to St. Petersburg was an excellent experience and I am certain I will participate on another tour to that city. Margarita and Tatiana were very pleasant, courteous, and professional in their duties. The tours of the city, Peter and Paul Fortress and Catherine's palace were outstanding and Natasha is a great tour guide. The boat tour was a highlight of the week but I wish it could have been a bit longer.
