World Population Day is celebrated on July 11th of each year.

The Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program established World Population Day in 1989. This day was inspired by another celebratory day know as the Five Billion Day, established in 1987; marking the world population at five billion.

World Population Day is a time to focus on commitment and action to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect. The theme of this year's World Population Day is Men as Partners in Maternal Health.

Suggested activities for World Population Day include, activities organizing public contests for posters, essays, and plays about the importance of involving men in women's issues.

I just come back from Odessa. I had a very very good time there. The town is wonderful with very nice people. The socials were wonderful also. The best socials I ever been to. Bravo. Please give my regards to Alex (Saccia) for his fine idea to tell me about Odessa socials. Also please say thanks from me to Olga, Irina and Karina for their help and assistance. Please tell me when are the next socials in Odessa. I will do everything possible to go again there. ( Dates, hotel of the group etc if you know).
