World Population Day is celebrated on July 11th of each year.

The Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program established World Population Day in 1989. This day was inspired by another celebratory day know as the Five Billion Day, established in 1987; marking the world population at five billion.

World Population Day is a time to focus on commitment and action to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect. The theme of this year's World Population Day is Men as Partners in Maternal Health.

Suggested activities for World Population Day include, activities organizing public contests for posters, essays, and plays about the importance of involving men in women's issues.

Anastasia, firstly I would like to thank you for introducing me to the most wonderfull person I have ever met. Her name is Diana and she comes from Riga in Latvia. She came out to Namibia to visit me on the 16th December 2003 and while she was here we got engaged and will be getting married soon as soon as she has settled her things in Riga. I hope that this will happen in April 2004. Due to the above, I would like to cancel my membership with Anastasia and would once again like to thank you for the introduction.
